Intended destination - Loch Mudle
Destination - Loch Mudle
After a brief sojourn to Mull we got back to the original itinerary with a trip to Loch Mudle in early summer 2008.
It was to be an incredible discovery....
We left early as always and I drove in my beautiful big black Focus.

On the way there Andy C was taking rubbish pics out of the car window as we sped along at 60mph. This has happened before with little success. However, he managed to get a picture of a piper that he is still talking about 6 years later so I feel I should put it in.

We arrived at Loch Mudle at midday. We climbed down a hill and found a campsite, enclosed by trees, at the foot of the valley. As we set up camp we wondered what the sound of water was and to our delight there was a glorious waterfall. It was to be the start of many pleasant discoveries on this trip.

The lighthouse keeper told us of some birds he was seeing. Haha. No he told us of some birds that were flying by and pointed out Rum, Canna and Eig in the distance.
That night we stayed at the aforementioned bunk house. It was perfect as we watched a game in the European Championships and then headed out for a walk with a hip flask (bottle of Passoa) and a Frisbee.

We woke up on day 3 and enjoyed a hot shower. It felt good and the weather was much better. Things got better as we followed the signs for Sanna Bay, which turned out to be one of the best beaches I've ever been to. I have written in the diary "The greatest find of the camping trips so far was SANNA BAY. It is an idylic and peaceful sandy beach that seemed to stretch on forever.
The day had turned out superbly and we headed back to the campsite to discover everything was bone dry. We had a few drinks and ate and Andy Cowan put my Hi-tec walking trainers in the fire!! I grabbed them when I noticed and threw them into the burn. After some searching we retrieved them and they were burned beyond repair. Andy C denies all knowledge. All I know is that they were drying out beside the fire and all of a sudden they were in it. Andy C couldn't hide his hysteria and I put two and two together and got the correct answer.
Here are some glorious pics of us enjoying ourselves. It should also be noted that this was the first time we have made it the intended destination.
| Pretty sure this is Loch Mudle |
All in it was a brilliant trip and to this day, 5 April 2014, I'd rank it in the top 2.
Stay tuned for more camping adventures.
Ewan
